Colchicum corsicum

Description: The Colchicum corsicum Baker is a perennial herbaceous plant. Classified as bulbous geophyte according to the Raunkiær system, it belongs to the Colchicaceae family. It is endemic to Corsica and Sardinia.

This species’ vegetative cycle is quite peculiar, but it can be distinguished in most of the Colchicum plants. Blooming takes place in Autumn, when there are the dry leaves of the previous cycle. It can be found on the islands of the National Park of La Maddalena Archipelago.
