Forest Fire Management Plan

Wildfire Management Plan - Sardinia Region

The Plan aims to program and coordinate the firefighting activities of all institutional bodies. It provides a framework of specialized thematic knowledge developed to effectively plan forecasting, prevention, and active firefighting activities. This is based on an organizational model comprising various institutional and non-institutional actors who contribute, in different capacities and fields, to achieving the Plan's objectives, in accordance with Law no. 353/2000, Regional Law no. 8/2016, and Legislative Decree no. 1/2018.

The Plan for forecasting, prevention, and active firefighting against wildfires (A.I.B. Plan) has a five-year duration (2019–2023). It is updated annually whenever needs or opportunities arise to better define aspects related to specific situations that may require planning adjustments.
This planning tool is mandated by Art. 8, paragraph 2 of Law no. 353 of November 21, 2000, "Framework Law on Forest Fires." This law stipulates that for State natural parks and nature reserves, a specific Plan must be prepared by the Ministry of the Environment in agreement with the relevant regions, based on proposals from the managing authorities and after consulting the National Fire Corps.
The Plan is drafted following the "AIB Plan Template and Manual for National Parks," updated in 2018 by the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Land and Sea.

AIB Plan Report

In recent years, rising temperatures and water shortages have led to prolonged drought effects on vegetation, making plants more susceptible to ignition.
The phenomenon of wildfires represents a serious threat to the environmental heritage of La Maddalena Park; it is therefore mandatory to adopt correct and responsible behavior to prevent the ignition and spread of fires.
